Four Seasons – Residential Emergency Communications

The program established a scalable operating model for multi-channel resident communications, supported by xMatters, core residential systems, consent processes, training, governance, and rollout preparation.

Business context

Residential properties relied on inconsistent, property-specific emergency communication processes. Manual emails, phone calls, and ad hoc methods made urgent notifications slower, harder to govern, and more vulnerable to error.

Indicator of value

The program established a scalable operating model for multi-channel resident communications, supported by xMatters, core residential systems, consent processes, training, governance, and rollout preparation.

Executive summary

Emergency Communications established a standardized, global capability for Four Seasons residences to communicate critical safety information to residents. The program replaced fragmented local practices with a more scalable operating model for sending emergency notifications through SMS, voice, email, and mobile channels.

The business problem

Properties needed to act quickly during incidents such as fire alarms, severe weather, security events, power outages, flooding, evacuations, shelter-in-place situations, and lockdowns. Yet resident communication processes varied by property and frequently depended on manual outreach. There was no resident-focused equivalent to the emergency communication capability already used for employees.

My role

I was a primary business leader from concept through pilot and global-rollout preparation. I defined the future-state business architecture, resident onboarding and consent model, property responsibilities, and technology integration requirements. I also coordinated the work across Residential Operations, Security, Technology, Salesforce, Golden HOME, Resi Digital, Legal, Compliance, property teams, and vendor partners.

Approach and strategic decisions

  • Established xMatters as the platform for multi-channel resident notifications, including SMS, voice, email, and mobile delivery.
  • Defined the framework for connecting xMatters with Golden HOME, Resi Digital, Salesforce, and relevant employee data sources.
  • Created a resident self-service model for consent, preferred contact methods, and emergency contact information.
  • Developed standardized workflows, communication templates, onboarding processes, training, FAQs, and governance practices for property adoption.
  • Built legal and compliance review into the consent and communication design rather than treating it as a late-stage approval.
  • Led pilot planning, property kickoffs, readiness sessions, and rollout preparation across initial participating properties.

Outcome

The program established a repeatable emergency-communications capability that connected technology, policy, processes, training, and property operations. It gave Four Seasons residences a stronger foundation for consistent crisis communication, resident safety, and operational readiness across the portfolio.

What the work reinforced

Critical communication is not only a technology implementation. It is an operating capability: success depends on trusted data, clear consent, defined accountabilities, trained teams, usable templates, and a disciplined rollout model.
